Not Your Usual Accommodations

Many travelers look for special places to stay and they are often influenced by a person, place or event. I have traveled specifically to locations to see a museum, visit a Civil War battlefield and to visit many of Frank Lloyd Wright's wonders of architectural design. Another example is Civil War aficionados and students of this calamitous time in the history of the United States. Their interest level runs the entire course of that four-year long conflict.

While battle fields and museums hold special interest, being able to stay in an authentic Civil War home is a rare treat. Downtown Fort Wayne offers just such a unique experience in the Sion Bass House, once home to Sion Bass, a Civil War hero. Mr. Bass went off to war and at the April 1862 Battle of Shiloh, he was wounded severely and died a few days later. His former home in downtown Fort Wayne is now restored and renovated to offer historic lodging with spa amenities. I hope your travels are safe and if you get to Fort Wayne, please come visit and plan a stay  at the LaSalle or Sion Bass Houses.
